报告内容简介:
Many students hate writing! Some said they only wanted to do research but not writing. This mini-lecture aims at debunking the myths of the why, what and how of technical writing, emphasizing how writing is an integral part of research.
Writing is more than just obtaining another publication.
A good piece of writing should give a genuine record of the research findings. More importantly, writing as a dissemination medium helps communication in the research community and to avoid the duplication of work. Serious writing is also a good way to debug one's thoughts. It is often only when one tries to write down the idea would one realize possible missing pieces and flaws. The talk will also share tips on how best to conceptualize and structure your paper to cater for the needs of the readership, who can be reviewers of your papers.
